Our family camped there—years ago—
When I was but a child.
It was a first encounter with
A world that seemed so wild—
Compared, of course, to our calm lives
Of home and church and school.
The fishing—dancing river—all
To me were priceless, cool.
My dad caught trout—we ate them fast.
We slept there in a tent.
The hours flew and soon we asked
Where our vacation went!
