My parents (who had both retired)

Then built a home above the beach.

A spot I really much admired—

The view of Haystack Rock—in reach

Of easy walk or easy drive.

My parents loved it there so much—

And stayed as long as they could thrive.

But then came sickness, age, and such,

And so they had to leave that place—

That place that they had loved the most—

Each wore a very solemn face

As each, alas, gave up the ghost.
