In 1937 Dad

And friends had climbed this classic peak—

He was the sort who loved to seek

Adventure—giving all he had.

I’d hoped to climb that mountain, too—

And trained to do it (as I should)—

But hurt my knee and knew I could

Not do what I had hoped to do.

So now, perhaps, my son will climb?

Or maybe his sons one day will?

I hope so, for that mighty “hill”

Has family history—years of time.
