Cavalcade of Cliché, 38

(A parade of words and phrases eligible for retirement.)

Shipping News

“Loose cannon” came from days of ships—
The wooden ones of old.
A cannon loose could crush a guy
When it so wildly rolled.

Clichés, like cannon, can break loose—
In country and in town—
And like those cannon, all clichés
Should really be tied down.
