Around the World in the Good Ship Doggerel, 177

A doggerel series about the countries of the world.

Tonga.

A Polynesian kingdom that
Has many beach resorts—
A better plan, I think, by far
Than having many forts.

The islands that compose it? Oh,
A hundred sixty-nine.
That seems somewhat sufficient, but
Which one of them is mine?

Australia lies far to its west,
And 1970?
That was its independence year—
From England they were free!

The economy is moderate—
And wealth is somewhat rare.
The royal family has a lot—
More than a bit unfair.

The birds are many—and diverse.
The seas are rich with life.
And if I saw their “flying fox,”
I’d hide behind my wife.
