We toured the house of Longfellow—
Still there in Cambridge, Mass.
We saw his tomb nearby, as well—
No thing was … lower class.
Yes, he was popular for years—
A poet whose mere name
Brought looks of recognition and
Some riches—and much fame.
But now he’s faded into time—
Most people have not read
His many famous poems, which,
It seems, like him, are dead?
