A Hammer In
the Road
Stow, Ohio

And there it
lay—a hammer!—on
Ohio 91.
Some drivers
tried to miss it—
Some others,
just for fun,
Made sure
they hit the handle—it
Was made
with solid wood.
I’m not sure
why they did this, for
It really
did no good.
But then I
figured out just why
They were behaving
so:
Perhaps
they’d been inside a bar
And now were
hammered, Yo!
