Show Me the Place, 29

“Show me the place.”
Duke Senior in As You Like It (2.1)

29: Harmon (Middle) School; Aurora, Ohio; 1974–78, 1982–97

A brand-new building—we moved in—
And had to learn some things.
There were not many walls at all—
So noise and woe were kings.

But soon we figured how to teach
In such unlikely space,
And Harmon School would soon become
A very special place.

The faculty? Just unsurpassed.
The students? Eager. Fun.
And soon I found I loved my days
At Harmon—every one.

(Well, maybe not quite every one—
But most were silver, gold.)
I felt that this became the place
Where warmth replaced the cold.

And Harmon had a stage for us—
A place to do our plays.
I felt I was in heaven there
In those old Harmon Days.
