Sound and Sense, 2-6

Time for more instances of the homophone: a word pronounced the same as another but differing in meaning, whether spelled the same way or not, as heir and air.

1. heard (verb): past tense of hear—to be aware of sound through the ear, to listen to someone or something
2. herd (noun): a group of animals that live or are kept together; a large group of people; (verb): to gather or move a group of people or animals

He really wished that he had heard
The hooves that thundered from that herd.
Instead, this guy (oh, such a nerd)

Was searching for a Pokémon
There in a pasture, early dawn.
herd charged by—and he was gone.

He’d been, too much, a pokey man.
