A doggerel series
about the countries of the world.
Uruguay.
You see this word when you’re a
kid—
It makes you wonder what you did
To earn this quirky thing.
Three u’s in such a little word!
(The strangest thing that I had
heard
My life was still in spring.)
In 7th grade I had a
class—
Did a report (did more than
pass—
I earned a golden ring!)*
I learned of fertile plains down
there—
They roll so richly—they don’t
care
Who’s queen or king.
They export software (so I’ve
read)—
And cannibas (affects your
head)—
What comfort it can bring.**
It’s got some bear—some jaguar,
too.
(They both have dinner
dates—with you.)
(Some pepper adds some zing!)
*I didn’t—but, hey, it rhymes?
**Or so I’ve read.
