Around the World in the Good Ship DOGGEREL, 185

A doggerel series about the countries of the world.

United Arab Emirates. (UAE)

They lie along the Persian Gulf—
A bit to the southeast.
Although the federation’s small,
It hardly is the least.

In Abu Dhabi (capital)
A tower soars on high
And seems as if it pierces through
The fabric of the sky.

The UAE comprises all
These seven smaller ones.
And unity (or so I’ve read)
Reduces need for guns.

It’s no surprise that gas and oil
Are so important there.
But they are so diversified—
Which doesn’t seem too fair.

It has a varied ethnic mix—
Although Islam now reigns.
The world’s dire need for gas and oil
Enriches … and explains.
