Head to Toe:
Boning Up on the Bones of the Body
Skull (f):
cranial bone 4: ethmoid bone
The ethmoid
bone—behind the nose—
Protects the
brain that lies behind.
The brain is
fragile (each one knows)—
And so we need
a bony kind
Of wall to
keep us just a bit more safe
From hits
and bumps and accidents
And wingèd things that just might strafe
Our fragile
face and skull’s contents.
