First Lily
July 12,
2020
A lily—first
one—blossomed here—
A brilliant
orange—it has no peer.
I love to
see them—every year.
They let us
know that’s summer’s come,
That birds can chirp, and bees can hum,
And gone
(for now) is winter’s glum.
Each blossom
lives a single day—
Such beauty
cannot really stay—
Reminding us
of life’s sad way.
