Throughout My Life
43: “Oil and Blood,” 1928, by William
Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
A vampire
poem! And by Yeats!
Who’d think
that Stoker, Yeats were mates?
A student*
told me of this work—
I memorized
it (mustn’t shirk!).
And now I
think of Yeats and blood—
And Dracula
(oh, such a stud!)—
And smile
each time I think of this—
A poem—like
a Cullen kiss!
