Iraq.
It seems as if we cannot leave
This country we invaded when
So many folks chose to believe
That 9/11 was a sin
Iraq had somehow caused to be.
So war’s ensued—for decades now—
And that idea of “set them free”
Remains remote from them somehow.
We wish that it were far more plain—
We wish from terror full release—
We wish for change that will remain—
We hope for everlasting peace.
